Man Hit & Killed By Train In Central El Paso

A man was killed after being hit by a train Saturday afternoon in central El Paso.

Emergency crews were called to the railroad tracks just east of U.S. 54, near Cassidy Road, at around 3 p.m.

Investigators said a Union Pacific train was headed south when the engineer spotted the man on the tracks. The engineer told police he blew the train’s whistle to warn the man, but was unable to stop in time.

The man, who police described as being 23 years old, was struck by the train and dragged.

He died at the scene, according to investigators.
