Police: Man Run Over By His Truck Dies From Injuries

A man who was run over by his own truck has died from his injuries, investigators said.

Mario Porras, 59, had gotten out of his 2007 Ford Sport-Trac to open the gate when the vehicle started rolling back. Investigators said Porras tried to get back into the vehicle, which accelerated and turned left, throwing Porras under the vehicle shortly before 11 p.m. Friday. The vehicle came to rest in a neighbor’s front yard.

Porras, of the 4200 block of McConnell, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries. He died about 5 a.m. Monday. Investigators said alcohol is a factor in the incident, and an investigation continues.

Porras’ death is the 47th traffic-related death of 2011, compared with 49 at same time in 2010.
