Man Accused Of Damaging 20 Traffic Signs

On Wednesday, 12-14-11 at approximately 8:43 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to O’shea and Catclaw (Montana Vista area) in reference to criminal mischief. Upon arrival, deputies meet with County Road and Bridges/Supervisor who told deputies 20 traffic signs were damaged.

According to the County Road and Bridges Supervisor these signs had previously been replaced only to be found damaged once again the following day.

Deputies saw what appeared to be tracks left by a vehicle possibly driving on its rims. A vehicle was located in the desert area approximately half a mile from the scene. Deputies ran a check on the license plate and followed up on the return address. Further investigation by the deputies led to the arrest of an 18 year old male identified as Jorge Marquez.

Detectives were also summoned to the assist with the investigation. The estimated cause of damage was $4000.00.
