Police Searching For Three Men Following Silver City Home Invasion

Police are looking for three Hispanic men after witnesses say they kicked down the front door of a home then attacked and shot a man.

It happened Tuesday night in Silver City, New Mexico, about a 150 mile drive northwest of El Paso.

According to police reports, the men shot Christopher Murillo in both hands and hit him in the back of the head repeatedly.

A family member of one of the witnesses said she’s horrified at the thought of what happened here Tuesday night. “They’re not safe. I don’t think any of us are safe,” she said.

Witnesses said three men were just sitting on a couch inside the home watching television when three masked men kicked down the front door. The invaders reportedly told the men who were inside to get on the floor. Christopher Murillo was one of those men on the floor.

When police arrived they found no sign of the attackers. According to Police Spokesman Terry Fortenberry, this kind of violent crime is rare in the area. “It’s an eye opening experience especially in this small town,” said Fortenberry.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the witnesses who spoke to ABC-7 say they won’t feel safe again until the invaders are caught and put behind bars.

Police say Murillo is associated with a gang, but they have no evidence at this point to link this crime to gang activity. He was taken to the University Medical Center in El Paso where at last check he remained in stable condition.
