El Paso Inc. Names Chair Of The Texas Transportation Commission “El Pasoan Of The Year”
His credits include being the driving force behind major improvements on loop 375 and spur 601, as well as playing a key role in the creation of the Texas Tech Medical School.
That’s why El Paso Inc. has named Ted Houghton “El Pasoan of the Year.” The chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission was given the award during a ceremony today at the El Paso Country Club.
The newspaper described Houghton as someone who gets thing done behind the scenes.
Houghton told ABC-7 that he works for the city’s progress, not for the recognition.”It’s a very prestigious honor. You just keep on doing what you’ve been doing for the love of your community, and in this case, the love of the state of Texas, which we are a part of,” Houghton said.
Houghton is a fourth-generation El Pasoan. He graduated from Coronado High School in 1970. He received a bachelor’s degree in business from UTEP.
