Winter Weather Makes For A Messy Monday

Old man winter went out with a bang this year as El Paso dealth with strong winds, hail and rain on the last day of the season.

“It was really scary because the weather completely changed in a second,” said Manuel Martinez.

Martinez had been riding the bus when a sudden downpour of hail pummeled parts of El Paso.

“I thought it was going to break some of the windows because it was really strong,” said Martinez.

That storm lasted approximately 5 minutes, but throughout the day heavy winds and rain went through the Sun City. No major damage or road closures were reported, though an El Paso Electric spokeswoman said about 2,000 customers had problems with their power around the Paisano and Sunland Park area. The spokeswoman said those problems were corrected within about 2 hours.
