Water Returns To Rio Grande Today

On April 1st, the Bureau of Reclamation began releasing water from Caballo Dam into the Rio Grande, according to the National Weather Service.

As you may have noticed, the Rio Grande has run dry in El Paso and Dona Ana counties for the past few months.

Many have taken advantage of the dry river bed as a walking or horse back riding trail or for a trail for four wheelers, but very soon this option will no longer be available.

The water will arrive in Las Cruces today and make it down to the west side of El Paso on Thursday and south of El Paso by late on Friday.
