Fort Bliss Soldier Dies From Injuries In Non-Combat Accident
A Fort Bliss soldier who was injured in a water-related accident died Saturday in Corsicana, Texas, officials said.
He was identified as 27-year-old Spc. Mason T. Moore III from Frost, Texas. No details were made available on the nature of the accident
Moore joined the Army on Aug. 15, 2006, as a light wheeled vehicle mechanic. He was stationed Fort Hood on June 1, 2008, and assigned to 407th, 4th Infantry Division Heavy Brigade Combat Team. His last assignment was with the 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 11th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade at Fort Bliss. He was at Fort Bliss since Oct. 13, 2009.
Mason is survived by his wife and one son.
“Charlie Company, 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, suffered a tremendous loss,” Charlie Company commander, Capt. Lorenzo J. Aponte said in a news release. “Sgt. Moore was remarkable in so many ways. He lived his life to the fullest and touched so many people during his time with us. We all have memories that defined Sgt Moore; memories that we will always hold dear. We continue to keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
Mason received the following awards: the Army Commendation Medal 3 Bronze Oak Leaves; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War On Terrorism Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 2; NATO Service Medal; Driver and Mechanic Badge; Driver Wheeled Vehicle Badge; and Driver Track Vehicle Badge.
