Drowning Prevention Luncheon
In August 2009 there were 78 child drownings in Texas and five were in El Paso.
Each year 250 children under the age of 5 drown in swimming pools. This does not include near drownings where children suffer permanent impairment as a result of their accident. The El Paso Drowning Prevention Coalition is dedicated to making El Paso drown-free.
A luncheon on Wednesday April 25 will highlight some of the coalition’s projects, including lifeguard Olympics, free CPR training throughout the city (coming in May) and more.
For information on El Paso’s Drowning Prevention Coalition’s annual Respect the Water luncheon, the lifeguard Olympics, or free CPR classes, call Lynn at 471-3730.
