Alleged Gang Member On Trial In Juarez Homicide Has Killed Himself In El Paso Jail

Ramon “Spooky” Renteria appeared to have committed suicide on Saturday inside his cell at the El Paso County Jail, according to U.S. Marshal Robert Almonte. Renteria, who authorities say was a Barrio Azteca gang member, was on trial in federal court in the 2010 homicide deaths of El Paso County Detention Officer Arthur Redelfs and his wife, U.S. Consulate employee, Leslie Enriquez Redelfs, in Ciudad Juarez.

Authorities are investigating Renteria’s death.

On March 13, 2010, the Redelfs family was torn apart when Reuben?s little brother and his wife were gunned down in their car in Juarez. Arthur and Leslie?s baby daughter, Rebecca, was also in the car but miraculously survived.

Their car was sprayed with bullets, just minutes from the international bridge as the young family returned from a children’s party in Juarez .
