Coach Floyd Mad at Bohannon
It is starting to become evident something is going on with John Bohannon and coach Tim Floyd at UTEP.
At the beginning of the season Bohannon was living life in the Penthouse starting for the Miners and being a key contributor. Now it appears he’s sunk to the bottom floor and in to coach Floyd’s dog house.
“I’m disappoint in John Bohannon’s approach to team,” UTEP coach Tim Floyd said after last night 74-70 loss to Tulsa.
When the Miners got back from their most recent road trip against ECU and UAB things changed. In those two games Bohannon played a total of 59 minutes, scored 27 points, and grabbed 19 rebounds. During the teams most recent three game home stand Bohannon didn’t play a minute last week against Tulane, but did score 11 points in only 11 minutes against Rice.
“We won the game first off, so that’s the most important thing,” John Bohannon said after Wednesday nights win over Rice. “
But then last night when the Miners fell to Tulsa for the second time this year, the only floor time Bohannon got was during pre game warm ups.
“They (McKenzie Moore and Bohannon) were late to our film study earlier today,” Floyd said. “It’s not the first time, you can talk with them the first time, but I’m getting real sick of it, real sick of it.”
“It was hard with out a floor leader,” Freshman Chris Washburn said. “It was tough, but we need to work that much harder in practice.”
With the season winding down, and conference positioning in the standings crucial, The Miners need to be focused and have players that want to be team players.
Whether we see Bohannon on the floor and not waving in the stands will be up to coach Floyd, but as of right now, it seems John Bohannon’s playing time in El Paso is running out
