Well-known El Paso chef arrested for allegedly assaulting her weatherman boyfriend
Sara Horowitz, an El Paso chef who has competed on two reality shows, was arrested earlier this month for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, Mark Mathis, a weatherman at KTSM-TV.
According to an El Paso Police affidavit, on April 10 Mathis told police that he and Horowitz, whom he’d been dating on and off for the past year, had just returned from a trip to Austin.
Mathis told police that they were arguing as they arrived at a home in the 5200 block of White Oak. Mathis told police that the argument continued and that Horowitz grabbed a cooler full of food and threw all of the food inside of it inside the vehicle.
“What the f*** are you doing!” Mathis is quoted in the affidavit as saying to Horowitz before he flicked the hat off of Horowitz’s head.
Mathis then alleges that Horowitz began to punch and kick him, resulting in his glasses breaking and causing a small scrape above his right eye, a small scrape above his right ear and some bruising behind his right ear, according to the affidavit. He told police he was in pain but he did not want Horowitz prosecuted.
ABC-7 reached out to KTSM’s news director for comment. Lauren Macias-Cervantes had no comment.
Horowitz has appeared on Hell’s Kitchen and Best in Smoke and is the tour chef for pop star Justin Bieber.
