Man arrested in connection with pointing gun at officers, citizen
El Paso Police arrested a man after he allegedly pointed a handgun at two officers and a citizen early Sunday morning, officials said.
Police said the suspect was identified as 31-year-old David Holguin.
Holguin was spotted just after midnight by officers patrolling the parking lot of a Circle K on the 11600 block of Pebble Hills, according to a release.
Police said two officers noticed Holguin was holding a pistol inside a vehicle.
Officers immediately drew weapons and gave orders for Holguin to drop his handgun, the release said.
Holguin allegedly refused, and pointed the gun at the officers.
According to the release, he then pointed the weapon at 31-year-old Adrian Armstrong. Police said Armstrong was the driver of the vehicle Holguin was spotted in.
After continued efforts to have Holguin drop his weapon, he finally complied, police said.
Holguin was arrested, and several pills were then located in a container in Holguin’s pocket, according to the release.
Those pills were determined to be Clonazepam and Escitalopram, controlled substances, police added.
Holguin, a convicted felon, was booked in the El Paso County Detention Facility, the release said.
Police said he was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault against a public servant, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a controlled substance.
Bond for Holguin was set at $18,500.
