Two brothers arrested on suspicion of burglary
Two brothers were arrested on suspicion of burglarizing a local business Saturday evening, police said.
Samuel Rocha, 18, and brother Matthew Rocha, 18, were arrested around 10 p.m. after allegedly fleeing the scene of a burglary, according to a release.
The burglary took place at La Negrita on the 6200 block of Gateway East, police said.
A citizen contacted police after witnessing several men break a window and reportedly steal articles of clothing from inside the store, the release said.
When officers arrived, the witness directed officers towards Samuel Rocha. He ran from officers, police said.
A chase ensued, but was cut short when S. Rocha tripped, according to the release.
S. Rocha struggled with officers, but eventually was placed under arrest, police said.
Officers checked the area for additional suspects, and found Matthew Rocha.
Police believe over suspects may have been involved in the burglary.
The two brothers were taken to a hospital for injuries, and were later booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
S. Rocha was booked on charges of burglary of building, evading arrest or detention, resisting arrest, and search or transportation, according to the release.
His bond is set at $3,500.
M. Rocha was booked on a charge of burglary of building. He was also booked for an outstanding warrant for minor possess alcohol.
His bond is set at $2,162.50.
