El Paso police ID man killed in Monday morning wreck

El Paso Police have identified the man killed in a traffic collision in Northeast Monday morning as 21-year-old Isaac Gonzalez of the 4700 block of Academy.

Police say that Gonzalez was driving a 2004 Chrysler Sebring West on Deer at a high rate of speed when he veered to the right and struck the curb on the north side of the street, lost control, and continued to travel southwest across Deer St. He then collided with a utility pole on the south sidewalk and died on the scene.

Police say that they believe speed to be a factor in the crash. This is the 23rd traffic related fatality of 2013 compared to 23 during this same time period in 2012.
