New ramps to connect I-10 and Loop 375

The Texas Department of Transportation announced three more connector ramps will be constructed as part of the new I-10/Loop 375 Americas interchange, casually referred to as the “east side spaghetti bowl.”

Once the current construction on the interchange is complete, crews will begin construction on a ramp connecting the eastbound lanes of I-10 to southbound Loop 375, and two ramps linking I-10 west to the north- and southbound lanes of Loop 375.

The chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission, El Pasoan Ted Houghton, stated in a news release, “This is another great day for El Paso residents and for economic development of this major city in our great state.

“We know transportation drives economic development and we are committed to making the necessary improvements to our roadways to foster this growth.”

The project will cost a little more than $48 million, and is expected to be complete in the early months of 2015.
