BREAKING: Carreon found guilty of murder in baseball-bat attack

Lorenzo Carreon, convicted of fatally striking a man with a baseball and leaving his body in pool of blood for a full day, now awaits word of his sentence.

A jury found the 40-year-old Carreon guilty of killing 55-year-old Frank Edward Jeffrey inside his South El Paso apartment in 2010.

Investigators found Jeffery’s body laying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor. He had suffered multiple blows.

Carreon’s family called police after he showed them what he had done.

On Friday, the jury saw bloody crime scene evidence, including a picture of the weapon, an aluminum baseball bat in a pool of blood.

Evidence also showed Jeffery’s body had been partially a burned; a small, red gas tank was found empty in Carreon’s closet.

During the trial, Carreon repeatedly looked back at his family while his attorney — at times — buried his head in his hands.

Carreon faces five to 99 years in prison.
