Murder-suicide investigation in east El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police officials say that they are investigating a murder-suicide on the eastside.
When police officers got to the house, located on the 11800 block of Chelita, yesterday, they found Jose Urrieta, 58, with a gunshot wound to his head. They also found Lourdes Urrieta, 58, dead inside of the home.
Crimes Against Persons detectives believe that Jose Urrieta shot Lourdes Urrieta and then himself.
"The Medical Examiner’s Office will complete their portion of the investigation," police officials explain. "The investigation continues."
El Paso Police clarified that the victim and her husband's last name is spelled Urrieta.
ORIGINAL STORY (August 27, 2025): The El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons detectives are looking into two deaths that happened on the 11800 block of Chelita Drive in east El Paso, near Marty Robbins Park.
"The call came in as a 911 unknown problem at 8:52 AM," police said. Officials just notified the public of the death investigation this afternoon.
No other details were made available.
