Man arrested in armed robbery at Lohman Foodmart in Las Cruces

Las Cruces police said a 41-year-old man robbed a convenience and threatened a clerk with a gun before fleeing in a car with an undisclosed amount of cash.

It happened about 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Lohman Foodmart in the 900 block of E. Lohman Avenue.

Police used surveillance video and were able to locate the unoccupied car in an apartment complex not far from the scene of the robbery.

But after setting up a perimeter around the complex located on Boutz Road, the Las Cruces Police Department SWAT team learned that the man was not in the apartment.
Officers said they found the man trying to hide in the backyard of a home in the 1900 block of Gladys Drive.

Eric L. Harris was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, tampering with evidence, resisting or eluding arrest, and possession of paraphernalia.
