Driver Missing After Car Lands Upside Down In Canal

Rescue teams have not found the driver of a car that rolled into a Central El Paso canal Tuesday morning.
It happened near the intersection of Beacon and Paisano, underneath the overpass just north of El Paso Drive.
When emergency crews arrived, the car was upside down in the canal, which was flowing with stormwater runoff.
The canal runs along the railroad tracks and passes underneath the Paisano overpass just north of Fox Plaza.
Emergency crews tell us the driver was heading north on the side road when he failed to notice a curve in the road, causing him to jump over a curb and into the canal.
When emergency crews climbed down to the car, the driver was nowhere to be found.
That triggered an search for the driver downstream, but after an hour, the search was called off with no sign of the driver.
Rescue crews were able to walk in the canal, so they believe the driver may have been able to walk out.
