El Paso mom trying to bring back bodies of her sons from North Dakota

Trying to cope with the loss of her two young sons has been difficult for one El Paso mother.

And bringing their bodies back home has not been any easier.

Alaries Ruiz, 5, and Cyris Ruiz, 9, were killed while they were camping with their father last weekend in North Dakota.

They were staying at Lake Metigoshe when a truck crashed into their campsite. Authorities said 30-year-old Juan Acosta, of Newburg, North Dakota, was driving drunk and speeding when he lost control of his pickup and drove over the boys’ tent.

Their father, Juan Ruiz, and another boy were seriously injured.

The boys’ mother, Sandra Hernandez, said she’s having trouble paying to bring her boys back home.

She said the family is trying to raise money for a burial here in El Paso, and has set up an account for donations.

If you’d like to help, it’s GECU account number 581814 under the name Sandra Hernandez.
