The City of El Paso will host two community meetings to discuss and get feedback from El Pasoans about the preliminary concepts of implementing a double-track, 2-mile Streetcar system that will begin in the Downtown Shopping District and International Bridge area and travel up to the Glory Road Transfer Center.

The public is invited to attend any of the following meetings:

Date: Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Location: Union Plaza Transit Terminal

400 W. San Antonio

Date: Thursday, July 19, 2012

Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Location: El Paso Community College-Rio Grande Campus

100 W. Rio Grande, Conference Room A-119

The purpose of these meetings is to share the current details about the project and identify any community concerns and general feedback. All interested individuals are invited to participate to help shape the look of the future transit system. A Spanish language translator will be available.

The City of El Paso began the process of creating a Streetcar system when a federal grant became available that qualified the City of El Paso for this public improvement.

Members of the public seeking more information or wanting to give feedback about the project can call (915)240-8677 or e-mail at epstreetcar@elpasotexas.gov.
