Alleged Sex Spa Owner Posts Bond
The woman accused of owning and operating a brothel disguised as a central El Paso massage spa, is released from jail on bond.
In Soon Kim’s bail was set at $10,000 by District Judge Norbert Garney, with restrictions.
Kim may only reside in El Paso or Tacoma, WA with her niece, Patti Kim.
Kim may not participate in the massage business.
The 60-year-old alleged madam is accused of coercing Korean women into moving to El Paso to work in her massage parlor, which Feds claim was actually a sex spa.
Kim’s sex trafficking charges are a result of a federal multi-agency investigation which culminated in a raid on her business, the Kyoto Hot Stone Relaxation Spa on Oct. 16.
A recent Department of Justice report states El Paso is ranked second in the state of Texas for confirmed number of sex trafficking cases.
“Houston has a big problem,” Texas Human Trafficking Task Force member Commander Paul Cross said. “And we are number two.”
The report states that the I-10 Freeway running through El Paso creates a gateway for traffickers, through which researchers estimate at least one in five human trafficking victims pass.
