Chihuahuas beat Aces in home opener, 2-1

The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Reno Aces 2-1 Friday, and in the process won back-to-back games for the first time. Reno scored the first run of the game in the second inning on an RBI single by Roger Kieschnick. The Chihuahuas tied the game in the fourth when Cameron Maybin doubled and scored on Kyle Blanks’ RBI double one batter later. The Chihuahuas took the lead on Maybin’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Jason Lane had his second consecutive strong start, allowing only one run in six innings of work. Lane has now combined to pitch 12 innings this year and allow only one total run. Blaine Boyer pitched two perfect innings in relief and Bobby LaFromboise left the tying run on base in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his first Chihuahuas’ save.
