Chihuahuas Drop Third Straight

The El Paso Chihuahuas left nine runners on base in their 2-1 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes Thursday night in Albuquerque. The Chihuahuas have now lost three consecutive games and five of their last six.

Albuquerque broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh when Mike Baxter lifted a home run over the left field wall. The Isotopes added a second run on Miguel Olivo’s RBI single later in the seventh. The seventh-inning damage could have been worse had it not been for an acrobatic 6-4-3 double play turned by El Paso with the bases loaded.

For the second straight night, an Albuquerque starter pitched six shutout innings. Henry Sosa held the Chihuahuas without a run until giving way to the bullpen in the seventh. The Chihuahuas lone run came on a long solo home run over the left field patio area by El Paso third baseman Alex Castellanos, his first of the season.
