More than one thousand job hunters show up to job fair
More than one thousand job seekers showed up to a job fair at the El Paso County Coliseum Wednesday.
Twenty eight of the 65 employers at the job fair were there looking to fill more than 1,200 positions for the William Beaumont Army Medical Center replacement hospital construction project, which is scheduled for completion at the end of 2016.
Some of the job hunters we spoke with said they were pleased with the conversations they had with employers, though others were not.
A veteran said that no matter how many job fairs he attends, he never gets a call back.
“I do have somewhat of a background,” job seeker Robert Burns said. “Usually that hinders me from getting a decent job. But my problems were back in 1996, and I don’t see why my problems back in ’96…it’s been 17 years, why should it still have an effect on my job search?”
A total of 1,566 job seekers attended the job fair, a Workforce Solutions spokesman said.
