UTEP Men’s Golf Team Ties For Sixth at C-USA Championship

The UTEP men’s golf team capped the Conference USA Championship tied for sixth place. The Miners shot 886 as a team with rounds of 302, 292 and 292.

Rice was champion of the 14-team event, carding an 861 (293-282-286 ). UAB was second (290-283-289-862 ), Tulsa third (288-281-297-866 ), Charlotte fourth (291-281-296-868 ), Middle Tennessee fifth (293-282-294-869 ), Southern Miss tied for sixth (298-288-300-886 ), East Carolina eighth (308-284-295-887 ), Old Dominion ninth (307-289-293-889 ), North Texas 10th (296-298-300-894 ), UTSA 11th (307-289-302-898 ), Louisiana Tech 12th (304-297-301-902 ), Marshall 13th (306-291-311-908 ) and Florida Atlantic 14th (310-305-317-932 ).

Freshman Frederik Dreier was the Miners’ top finisher, tying for sixth place with a five-over-par 215 (73-72-70 ). That put him six strokes back of individual champion Matt Mabrey of Tulsa (70-69-70-209 ).

UTEP’s Jere Pelletier tied for 22nd place (75-73-72-220 ), Martin Simonsen tied for 40th place (77-73-75-225 ), Roberto Ruiz tied for 52nd place (82-74-75-231 ) and Jose Romero finished 65th (77-79-83-239 ).
