Las Cruces police investigating reports of shots fired

Police are investigating two reports since Monday evening of gunshots that were fired in the area of Mesquite Street and Juniper Avenue.

At around 9:30 p.m. yesterday and again at about 2 p.m. Tuesday Las Cruces police received calls of shots being fired near the area of Mesquite and Juniper. No one reported gunshot injuries, but one woman received a superficial stab wound to her arm during an affray.

Police learned that several fights broke out Monday evening during a large gathering in the area.

Anyone with information on who may have fired shots in the area is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.
