Traffic stop ends with deputy-involved shooting

The El Paso Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that started with a routing traffic stop Thursday night in El Paso’s upper valley.

A spokesman for the sheriff’s department told ABC-7 a deputy pulled over a vehicle and moments later the car sped off, a chase ensued.

It came to an end on the 6800 block of Steffers Lane in a neighborhood located off of South Desert Boulevard and Campus Park Drive.

The spokesman said, for some reason, a deputy fired his weapon. No injuries were reported.

New details will be released as they become available.
