Congresswoman Escobar hosting Town Hall at Chapin High School Monday

UPDATE: ABC-7 spoke with the Congresswoman about the allegations surrounding her staffer that was accused by DHS of impersonating a lawyer.

DHS says that the staffer impersonated an attorney from September 2025 to January 2025 in order to get into Camp East Montana and speak with detainees. Escobar said the allegations were unfounded.

Escobar did not go into specific details about what she knew that led her to believe the staffer was innocent.

"We are going to proceed in a way that protects my caseworker and still allows them to fight this. I work with people of great integrity who have followed standards laid out by the department," said Escobar.

ABC-7 also asked the Congresswoman about a letter that Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons sent to Escobar with a list of questions he wanted answered by March 26th. She did not say if she answered the questions but did say they have been in contact with the department.

"We've sent a number of letters with questions for him because that's how it works. Congress asks the federal workforce in the cabinet questions, and they're supposed to respond to us. He has not answered any of our questions. But I will say this, we have been in communication with the Department."

ABC-7 reached out to DHS for comment and for more information about specific details surrounding the allegations. They have not responded to our request at this time.
