Community Champions: Burges & Americas headed to Final Four of state soccer playoffs

EL PASO, Texas - The Burges Mustangs and the Americas Trail Blazers have their eyes on the prize.

Friday, both teams will take the pitch in the Final Four of the UIL state soccer playoffs.

In Class 5A Division 1, Americas will face Prosper Walnut Grove in the state semifinal match.

This will be a rematch of last season's Final Four game.

Walnut Grove eliminated Americas in that match and then went on to win the state championship.

This is the Blazers' second straight appearance in the state semifinal.

In Class 5A Division 2, the Burges Mustangs will face Frisco Wakeland in the Final Four.

This is Burges' first ever appearance in the state semifinal match.

Both games will be played in Midland, TX Friday afternoon.

The winner of each match will then advance to the state championship match that will be held Friday, April 10 in Georgetown, TX.

For all their accomplishments this season, Americas and Burges are this week's Community Champions.
