Man found dead in burning vehicle March 4 ruled a suicide

The death of a man found dead in his burning car on March 4 has been ruled a suicide by El Paso Police.

KVIA usually does not report on suicides but an exception in this case was made because of how the body was found in public in a burning car.

El Paso Fire Dept. firefighters were called out to Valley Creek Park at about 2:22 p.m. on March 4 to extinguish a burning car.

After putting out the fire they found a body and called police.

Detectives have learned that the victim inside of the vehicle appeared to be depressed and chose to take his life.

Police have chosen not to release the man’s name.

The family has asked detectives for privacy as they deal withthe loss of their loved one, according to a police spokesman.
