Las Cruces rescinds burn ban

The Las Cruces Fire Department is rescinding fire restrictions imposed on June 6 because of rain in recent weeks.

The most recent drought index released by the National Weather Service shows marked improvement and indicates that the city of Las Cruces is no longer experiencing severe or extreme drought conditions.

The Las Cruces Fire Department can reinstate fire restrictions if climatic conditions, drought, fire danger or other factors present a fire threat to personal property or public safety.

City residents may obtain burn permits at any fire station within Las Cruces. The Las Cruces Fire Department encourages residents to follow all rules and regulations pertaining to open burning within the city.
