Update: El Paso Police say man committed suicide when he crashed into Transmountain barrier

July 23, 2014 Update:

El Paso Police have ruled the driver’s death on Transmountain on Tuesday a suicide.

Police say that Francisco Pulido intentionally drove his Isuzu pick-up at a high rate of speed into the concrete barrier, which caused his death.

July 22, 2014 Story:

The El Paso Police Department confirmed via Twitter a man was killed in an overnight wreck on Transmountain Road.

Police officers were dispatched just after midnight Tuesday near the summit of Transmountain Rd.

The driver was traveling east on Transmountain when it appears he veered off the road and plowed through the concrete barriers.

Officers shut down the eastbound lanes for several hours, but were reopened just after 6 a.m.

EPPD has not released the name of the driver or confirmed if speed or alcohol were factors in the wreck.
