2 men arrested in connection with incident at San Elizario house party

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men at a house party in the area of the 13200 block of Gloria Elena in San Elizario.

According to sheriff’s officials, a deputy was patrolling that area at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday when he came across a large house party and saw a large fight in front of the home.

Some people began to run away and others went into the home.

Christian Lopez, 21, came out of the home with an injury to his head and told the deputy he was assaulted with a beer bottle, according to sheriff’s officials.

The deputy put Lopez in the back of a patrol unit for his safety while deputies investigated.

Sheriff’s officials say that as deputies were going toward the home to check on other possible victims inside the residence, the homeowner, pushed the door closed on the deputies.

Sheriff’s officials said this interfered in the investigation and that the home owner, identified as Bryan Martinez, was arrested for Interference with Public Duties.

While placing Martinez under arrest, Lopez became uncooperative and began kicking out one of the rear passenger windows to the patrol unit, according to the sheriff’s office.

Lopez caused damage to the window and while placing him under arrest, he allegedly attempted to flee.

He was ultimately arrested and placed in the back of the patrol unit.

Lopez allegedly began kicking the window again and damaged it. He was charged with Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest. Both subjects were booked into the El Paso County Jail Annex Facility.

Bryan Martinez, 22, was charged with Interference with Public Duties and Lopez was charged with Criminal Mischief >$500 <$1,500 and Resisting Arrest Search or Transport.
