Ground broken for future Northwest El Paso hospital

Sierra Providence and Texas Tech are teaming up and their goal is to build a new hospital in Northwest El Paso.

It will be located at Resler and Trans Mountain.

Sierra and Texas Tech broke ground Thursday morning on the new, 140-bed facility.

Officials say the hospital will help increase the number of medical students Texas Tech can train.

But most importantly, it will provide them with an institution where they can put their knowledge to use.

The overall goal is to increase the number of physicians in El Paso.
