Making it Big: From Hanks High School to Hollywood
Ryan Piers Williams b egan editing news video at KVIA while he was still in high school. He says he knew early on that filmmaking was the career path for him. After graduating from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Williams worked with director Stephen Soderbergh who mentored the young filmmaker.
Williams has helmed three films that have premiered at prestigious film festivals;
The Dry Land at Sundance (2010)
Kilimanjaro at SXSW (2013)
X/Y at Tribeca (2014)
His wife, America Ferrera, starred in “The Dry Land” as well as the yet-to-be released, X/Y.
