El Paso man killed in accident on I-20
An El Paso man was killed in Reeves County in a traffic accident on Tuesday afternoon.
KWES-TV in Midland-Odessa reports that the accident happened on I-20, about nine miles west of Toyah.
Santos Ontiveros Avalos, 58, of El Paso, was driving a 2000 Saab 9E with his hazard lights on after seeing smoke coming from his engine compartment when an 18-heeler hit him from behind.
Avalos was killed in the incident and DPS officials say the driver of the 18-wheeler failed to control his speed when he hit the Saab.
The driver of the 18-wheeler and a passenger in the Saab were taken to a hospital in Pecos for treatment.
