Power outage overnight in Las Cruces caused by wreck

A car wreck overnight is to blame for a power outage in Las Cruces that affected about 3,000 El Paso Electric customers.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Missouri and Boutz, police said.

The driver took out a fence line and electric pole on the 1700 block of Locust.

One vehicle was involved and it is unclear if the driver was taken to the hospital.

El Paso Electric crews arrived at the scene and restored power within an hour.
