Last Thursdays, recreation centers offer Halloween fun in El Paso
Last Thursdays Art Walk – Thursday, Oct, 31
Last Thursdays with the Downtown Arts District will return to regular hours from 6 pm – 9 p.m. and include Halloween and Da de los Muertos festivities. Come in costume! Win prizes, decorate pumpkins, piata, trick or treat and enjoy all the fun, art and entertainment that Last Thursdays has to offer our community. Free!
FEATURING:
Pumpkin Decorating Contest in Union Plaza Park – open to the public, first come – first serve with 25 pumpkins and limited carving kits available for free or BYO pumpkin and carving/decorating tools (strongly encouraged).
Pumpkin Decorating starts at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m.
Judging will be done by the Maximo Art Society with winners announced and prize give away at 8:15 p.m.
Prizes and raffle include generous gift cards from Tabla, The Garden, Caf Central, Hello Day Caf, OLO Gallery Gift Shop, O.M., Manchot, Nahda, and Ivy salon.
DJ Fresco will perform and Maximo Art Society will have live art making in the park. Made possible by generous support from Sotoa.
Piata in Union Plaza provided by Tabla – kids take their swing at the piata at 8:30 p.m.
Costume Contest at the Mix at 7:00 p.m. – hosted by O.M., Manchot, Nahda, Ivy, and Art Avenue – prizes include an iPod Shuffle and generous gift cards to local restaurants and retail hosts.

The Grocery Gallery – belly and fire dancers with tarot card readings and an art exhibition

Last Thursdays with the Downtown Arts District is a monthly art walk organized by the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department. Last Thursdays showcases art galleries, Pop-Up art installations, live artist performances, live-music, and free admission to special exhibitions at both the El Paso Museum of Art and the El Paso Museum of History. Last Thursdays is a collaborative effort between the Downtown Arts District and the local arts community to showcase the contemporary art scene in downtown El Paso, in partnership with our downtown business and restaurant owners.
Last Thursdays is free and open to the community.
Halloween Happiness 2013- All 16 Recreation Centers and one Library Location will have free activities on Thursday, Oct. 31 .Halloween activities will be taking place at all Recreation Centers from the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. along with Esperanza Acosta Moreno Library in east El Paso from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Halloween Night, Thursday, October 31, 2013.
The festivities will be free with a carnival, jumping balloons, and much more in a safe and family-friendly atmosphere. The Parks and Recreation Department looks forward to hosting thousands of children and their parents for a great night of Halloween excitement.
