Man killed in motorcycle crash in Las Cruces Tuesday night

Las Cruces Police are investigating Tuesday night’s motorcycle crash that killed a man.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on south Main Street.

Las Cruces Police were sent to the scene just before 10 p.m. Tuesday after a passerby found the motorcycle that appeared to leave roadway and crash into a rock wall.

Police say the driver was not wearing a helmet and suffered a lethal head injury.

Traffic investigators believe the motorcycle was heading north on Main Street when, for some reason, it left the roadway and crashed into the wall. At this time it’s not known if alcohol or speed played a role in the crash.

The crash closed a portion of Main Street for several hours while investigators gathered evidence and mapped the scene.
