NMSU basketball team loses to St. Mary’s in overnight game

New Mexico State University had an early game Tuesday against St. Mary’s in California.

Really early – like 1 a.m. Mountain/midnight Pacific early.

The Aggies were participating in ESPN’s 24-hour tip-off marathon

The game didn’t end until after 3:30 a.m. – and the Aggies lost, 83-71.

The Aggies also got 17 points from senior Remi Barry, while sophomore Ian Baker added 11 points.

“Remi was very active and he played very hard,” said NMSU coach Marvin Menzies. “He got to the free throw line (11-of-16) and we needed that.”

“It was one of those games where we wished we could play the first half over again.”

NMSU will host Northern Colorado on Wednesday, at the Pan American Center in the Aggies home opener. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
