El Paso attorney Stuart Leeds barred from practicing law, plans to appeal

Local attorney Stuart Leeds is being barred from practicing law for six months.

A clerk for visiting Judge Martin Muncy told ABC-7 the judge has written and signed a suspension order that will take effect as soon as it is filed, probably in the next day or two.

Leeds was already on professional probation when he was held in contempt by Judge Sam Medrano in late March.

Leeds was accused of intentionally misleading the court by claiming not to have filed a motion he had filed.

Attorney Mario Gonzalez, who is representing Leeds in his suspension case, said they will be appealing the judge’s ruling.

They also will be filing a motion they hope will keep the suspension from taking effect.
