Congressman Beto O’Rourke to play in congressional baseball game
U.S. Congressmen are used to battling each other in Washington, D.C. over proposed bills but Thursday they will be battling each other on the baseball diamond for charity.
Democrats and Republicans will play against each other in the annual Congressional Baseball Game and El Paso’s own U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke will be participating.
O’Rourke, who played little league as a kid, will be playing in the outfield. He has been practicing for two months before his morning workout and even practiced with the El Paso High School varsity baseball team when he was in town.
O’Rourke had a Facebook contest and asked people to vote on which local area high school jersey he should wear during the game and El Paso High won.
A milestone for a professional baseball player is when they get their first baseball card and each member of the congressional baseball teams will get that unique feeling because each will get one set of baseball cards.
It was not immediately clear if the game will be broadcasted on any channel or streamed online.
