El Paso Police ID woman killed in Monday morning traffic collision

A 54-year-old woman was killed Monday morning in a traffic collision.

El Paso Police said that at 7:38 a.m., Geraldine Baxter Rodriguez was driving a 2001 Saturn eastbound on Montana when for unknown reasons she lost control of her vehicle and entered the westbound lanes of Montana.

She struck a 2004 Mazda 3 near the 8200 block of Montana. Rodriguez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. Penelope Sotelo, the driver of the Mazada, was transported to hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

This is the 18 th traffic fatality of 2013.
