El Paso Community College is highlighting one of their newer programs that launched this past spring: Polysomnography.

Good Morning El Paso's Nicole Ardila joins them live from Rio Grande Inter-professional Simulation Education Center (IPEC) Lab on Thursday morning.

The program is part of the Respiratory Care Technology Program as an in-demand healthcare technology career.

Polysomnography focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.

The polysomnography occupational skills award certificate is a short-term 12-week certificate program that leads to careers in sleep medicine.

The polysomnography program is led by instructor Dr. Kristyna Hartse, who provides comprehensive training in polysomnography techniques, including operating sleep diagnostic equipment, conducting sleep studies and delivering patient care in clinical settings.

Students are taught the skills needed to work in hospitals, sleep centers and outpatient clinics.

EPCC says career opportunities for registered polysomnography technicians include in-hospital sleep study units, privately owned sleep study centers, and physicians’ offices.
