Fort Bliss soldier killed by IED in Afghanistan

Spc. Kyle P. Stoeckli, 21, of Moseley, Va., died June 1, in Maiwand, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained when his unit was attacked by an improvised explosive device, according to the Department of Defense.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Seth Lovell, a friend of Stoeckli’s, honored his memory on Facebook.

“Kyle Stoeckli U were a man.. a friend… a brother.. a hero. … i guess what i wanna say is this platoon this family will never forget u and your selflessness. I could go on for days brother but i will end it with this… Thank you for showing me the ropes when i got to this unit, for helping me with tough times over here by just listening to me complain. We fight on for you and your sacrifice. I love you and miss you my friend. Rest in Peace,” Lovell wrote.
