Congressman Beto O’Rourke named to The Hill’s 50 Most Beautiful list

U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-El Paso) is in his first term in Congress and has made veterans issues, border issues, and immigration among his top priorities.

The Hill website, which covers politics in Washington, D.C., has named him one of the 50 Most Beautiful. He is specifically called “Rock Star” in a nod to his punk rock past.

“We toured the U.S. and Canada for two years, which was a lot of fun,” O’Rourke told The Hill of his time as a singer and guitarist in Foss. “It was very much a do-it-yourself, punk rock ethic of booking your own shows, sometimes sleeping on the floor of the club you had played, or meeting folks that would take you in, or sleeping on the side of the road, or at rest stops in the car.”

Cedric Bixler Zavala, former lead singer for The Mars Volta and At the Drive-In, also was in Foss as a drummer and singer but it is hard to tell if that is him playing drums in the video.

Bixler has tweeted a few times in 2012 about O’Rourke running for the District 16 congressional seat and their time in Foss.

“My 1st tour was playing drums with @BetoOrourke he played bass/guitar and sang. He just unseated an 8 year republican incumbent ! #EPHC!!!” Bixler tweeted on May 30, 2012 when O’Rourke defeated Silvestre Reyes in the Democratic primary.
