SSPE CHIHUAHUA

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- According to Juarez officials, a 19-year-old man was arrested by elements of the State Secretariat of Public Security (SSPE) during the follow-up to an investigation into a homicide that occurred on August 1 in Ciudad Juárez.

Officials say that the homicide occurred August 1, when a man was reported injured by a firearm projectile inside a vehicle, in the parking lot located at the intersection of Óscar Flores Sánchez and Zaragoza boulevards. The man later died from his injuries.

As officials followed up with an investigation, on August 8 agents located a blue vehicle at the intersection of Professor Esperanza Reyes Sánchez and De la Roca streets, which matched the vehicle description from the homicide.

Officials say that agents stopped the driver, who identified himself as Alejandro B. C., 19-years-old.

During the inspection of the vehicle, three transparent plastic wrappers with the alleged drug were located, Alejandro was arrested on charges related to the drugs.

Likewise, the vehicle Alejandro was driving was secured by police due to its probable relationship with the homicide investigation. The detainee and the secured elements were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General's Office, Northern Zone, to continue with the investigations.

The arrest, officials say, was the result of the investigation and follow-up work carried out by agents of the SSPE, as part of the strategy to address high-impact crimes.
