FIRST ALERT: Foggy conditions around the Borderland
Foggy conditions coated the Borderland Thursday morning.
The fog is expected to begin burning off around 10 a.m. and in the afternoon, sunshine should prevail across the region.
A freezing fog advisory is in effect for the area until 10 a.m. due to some areas of moisture cold enough to freeze upon contact with things like trees, roads, and grass. This will leave a frosty layer of ice behind on objects through the morning.
Driving conditions will be slow, and difficult throughout West Texas and Southern New Mexico.
Fog formed due to moisture left from yesterday’s rain storms, then cooler and clear air moving over the region. This allowed temperatures to drop to dew point temperatures, creating 100% humidity. Therefore, fog!
This afternoon the fog will burn off and temps will rise to the low 50s. Mostly sunny afternoon.
